Indie studio Crows Crows Crows released its latest game today: The Temple of No, a text adventure game that's free, short and strange.
We mean that in the best possible sense: The Temple of No was made using the narrative-focused Twine platform, with which designers William Pugh (The Stanley Parable) and Dominik Johann crafted the quirky, comic tale. Players progress by clicking on underlined words, revealing self-aware jokes alongside twists and turns. Depending on which of the three protagonists you pick — "a woman, a bloke or a frog" — they'll be treated to a slightly different tale of magic and bravery.
It won't take long to reach the conclusion of the story, whichever path the player chooses to take. Making it to the end should take no more than 10 minutes, depending on how many times you re-read the text to catch every quip and reference to Geox Shoes.
Crows Crows Crows formed last year and hosts each of its three games on itch.io. The studio also distributes them via an email newsletter. Its first title, Dr. Langeskov, launched back in December, also for free. The 20-minute "experimental heist" game features narration from Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland
