Crunchyroll previously reported on how Nigakute Amai, a comedy manga by Yumio Kobayashi, was being adapted into a live-action film directed by Shogo Kusano and starring Haruna Kawaguchi and Kento Hayashi. Now new information about the film is available.
The film, which will be known internationally under the title Bittersweet, is scheduled to debut in Japanese movie theaters on September 10, 2016. The official movie poster (above) reproduces the cover of the 1st volume of the Nigakute Amai manga. Additionally, the following actors have joined the cast of the film:
- Yasushi Fuchikami will play Arita Tachibana.
- Hiyori Sakurada will play Minamai Aoyama.
- Mackenyu will play Atsushi Banazono.
- SU will play Master Yat-san.
- Hideo Nakano will play Yutaka Eda.
- And Mako Ishino will play Misao Eda.
The Nigakute Amai manga originally ran in MAG Garden's digital manga magazine EDEN. The 12th and final volume of the series will be released in Japan on May 14, 2016. Nigakute Amai tells the odd-couple story of Maki Eda, a slovenly office lady with a penchant for junk food, and Nagisa Kobayashi, Maki's gay, vegetarian roommate.
