2-part film will screen in Tokyo in June, in Osaka in July
A website launched on Tuesday to announce that Kazuto Okada'sKyōkasho ni Nai! manga is getting a two-part live-action film adaptation.
Ryōma Baba (U-31's Atsuhiko Kono, Hakuōki SSL: Sweet School Life The Movie's Keisuke Sannan) and former AKB48 member Ayaka Morikawa will star in the films as Arihiko Tairaku and Aya Shirakaba, respectively.
Other cast members include: Moemi Katayama, Yurisa, Rika Mari, Wataru Ichinose, Satoru Satō, Yuna Hashimoto, Sahiko Hori, Kōji Motegi, Takeoka Tsunekichi, Takami Sakurai, Wataru Yusa, Ayaka Fukai, Sumire Nagai, Makoto Kikuchi, and Moe Wakaki. Tomohisa Yuge(live-action Death Note's Shūichi Aizawa) will appear in the second film.
Shōta Sasaki (Boku-tachi no Afterschool) will direct the films, and Tomonori Sasaki and Shōta Sasaki will write the scripts. Edoga Sullivan will perform the theme song.
The films will screen in a limited engagement in Shibuya and Osaka. The Shibuya HUMAX Cinema in Tokyo will screen both films in back-to-back screenings from June 18-23. The first film will screen on June 18, 20, and 22, while the second film will screen on June 19, 21, and 23. Cine Nouveau X in Osaka will screen both films every day from July 9-15.
The romantic comedy manga centers on Aya Shirabaka — the daughter of a Yakuza member — and Arihiko Tairaku, her high school teacher whom she falls in love with and lives together with. The manga follows their school life and their life living together.
Okada ran in Kyōkasho ni Nai! in Akita Shoten's Young Champion magazine from 1995-2002. The manga ran until 2002, and received a direct-to-video film in 1995, an OVA in 1998, and a live-action television series adaptation in South Korea in 2007. Media Blasters released the OVA under the title Very Private Lesson.
