Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari SP 3DS Game Delayed Indefinitely

Game remakes River City Ransom NES game

The official website of Arc System WorksDowntown Nekketsu Monogatari SP Nintendo 3DS game announced on Wednesday that the game has been indefinitely delayed. The game was previously slated for release on June 2. The developer cites the need to improve the game's quality as the reason for the delay.
Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari is a remake of the original NES game, which was released in North America with the title River City Ransom. The game is part of the long-runningKunio-kun series. Many of the installments in the series saw releases in the West, with significant changes to their story and setting, including Renegade and River City Ransom. The series is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Natsume is releasing River City: Tokyo Rumble on the Nintendo 3DS in the West, although it has not yet provided a release date. The game is a localization of the Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-Kun SP: Rantō Kyōsōkyoku3DS game, which shipped in Japan in August 2013. The localized game will be playable at this year's E3 event.
Arc System Works acquired the rights to the Kunio-kun series from Million Co. last June. Arc System Works has already published severalKunio-kun games, most recently the River City Super Sports Challenge ~All Stars Special~ game last October on the PlayStation 3, and in December on the PC via Steam.
