Live-Action Film of A Girl at the Bottom of Onna Hierarchy Manga Opens May 28

Story follows girl at the bottom of high school's pecking order who imagines revenge

The official website of the live-action film adaptation of Shi-ko Suzuki's Onna Hierarchy Teihen Shōjo (a girl at the bottom of Onna Hierarchy, or "A Girl at the Bottom of the Female Hierarchy") manga revealed on Wednesday that the movie will start screening in Tokyo's Cineka Omori on May 28. The film already premiered during the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in February.
The film stars former AKB48 member Natsumi Hirajima in the lead role of Momoko. Other cast members include Ami Tomite, Nanami Abe, Yuki Tsumuraya, Mariko Sumiyoshi, Amane Okayama, Rino Higa, andYoshinori OkadaToshiyuki Morioka directed the film, with scripts by Rumi Kakuta.
In addition, a stage play adaptation of the manga will run in Shinjuku's Theater Moliere from May 25 to 29. Morioka will also direct the play and pen the script.
Suzuki's original manga centers a a high school girl who is the "lowest in the hierarchy" at her school. She lives with her father, who works a mysterious job, and her sketchy mother. Her friends make fun of her. In her delusions she repeatedly enacts violent revenge.
Seirin Kogiesha published the 13-chapter series in one compiled volume in 2009.
