At long last, the mystery behind the identity of cryptocurrency bitcoin inventor "Satoshi Nakamoto" has been resolved! Maybe, if you believe the claims of Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright.
Last December, Wired wrote that Wright "either invented bitcoin or is a brilliant hoaxer who very badly wants us to believe he did".
Then, on May 2nd, Wright claimed that he was in fact "Nakamoto," offering journalists from the BBC and the Economist evidence by signing a message using the private key associated with the first bitcoin transaction. So, why is 45-year-old Australian Wright 41-year-old (assuming a persona can age) Japanese citizen "Satoshi Nakamoto"?
The BBC profiled Wright and the history of this mystery, offering the origin behind the "Satoshi Nakamoto" name:
Craig Wright said the pseudonym he adopted is derived from two sources. The first name, Satoshi, is from Japanese Manga comics but he has not said which character or series it draws on.
The second name is taken from an obscure 18th century Japanese philosopher Tominaga Nakamoto who stood at odds with the views of his time. Mr Wright said he has some sympathy with Nakamoto's outlook on life.
So, which manga "Satoshi?" Feel free to speculate!
(ok, "Red" was the hero of Kosaku Anakubo's manga, but you get point)
Speaking of bitcoin and manga, remember Bitcoin-chan? The"Fairy of Money" really hasn't done much since being introduced in late 2014 by Mochiko Kagamino, who works on the Sherbert Soft eroge.
