Developers Altus have revealed that their upcoming Playstation exclusive JRPG, Persona 5, is getting an Anime called Persona 5 The Animation: The Day Breakers. The upcoming PS3 and PS4 bound game also recently got a release date and trailer. Not much else is known but the Anime will supposedly act as a prologue to the main game’s story. The aforementioned prologue will follow the Phantom Thieves on a certain mission. The Day Breakers will be animated by A-1 Pictures of Sword Art Online fame. The studio also previously worked on Persona 4 The Golden: Animation so they’re not new to the Persona franchise. Interestingly they’re also animating the Final Fantasy: Brotherhood Anime.
Persona series director Katsura Hashino revealed that although the Anime will tell its own story, it’ll tie into a certain episode in the game as well. Characters original to the Anime will also appear in the game and vice versa so if you’re a hardcore Persona fan this is an Anime you’ll definitely want to watch. Persona 5 The Animation: The Day Breakers will air before the game’s release in Japan on September 15.
