Kids' horror manga previously inspired live-action film
A short anime special based on Emi Ishikawa's Zekkyō Gakkyū: Tensei manga aired on Oha-Suta (Good Morning Star) variety program on the TV Tokyo network on Tuesday. The official YouTube channel for Shueisha'sRibon magazine also streamed the one-and-a-half-minute episode.
In the video, a girl's classmate disappears during a game of hide-and-seek. When she goes out to look for him, she hides when she hears someone pursuing her. After a while, she peeks out to see if her pursuer has given up.
Ishikawa's original Zekkyō Gakkyū manga follows a ghost girl named Yomi as she tells the reader various scary stories. Ishikawa began serializing the series in 2008, and it won the children's category of the Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2014. Ishikawa ended the manga in February 2015 began the "new chapter," Zekkyō Gakkyū: Tensei, in June.
The manga received a "vomic" (voice + comic) video in 2010, a three-episode promotional anime in 2012, and a live-action film adaptation in 2013.
