Ad-supported channels work like linear TV
Sony's streaming platform Crackle has announced a slate of new
motion animated comedy SuperMansions, executive produced by and starring Bryan Cranston (Macross Plus, also something called Breaking Bad) as a middle-aged hero working with Millennials, and a series of new "multiplex channels," as part of their “Always On” platform.
The free, ad-supported network is broken into seven categories including Anime, Comedy, Action, Drama, Thriller, Sports and Fandom. These work like linear TV, where, once a channel is selected, shows will play, anchored by original content.
The platform currently has Osamu Dezaki's live-action spin-off Ultraviolet: Code 044, and Shinji Aramaki's Viper's Creed as exclusives. In the past, they've been the only place in America to catch other anime, such as Nodame Cantabile.
