The official website for Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium anime franchise announced on Saturday that the previously announced second season will premiere in October. The website stated that it will reveal more details at a later date.
The Gekijō-ban Hibike! Euphonium: Kitauji Kōkō Suisōraku-Bu e Yōkoso (Sound! Euphonium the Movie: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band) film opened on Saturday in Japan. The film looks back at the spring 2015 television series, and the second season will depict what happens afterward.
The first television anime adapted Ayano Takeda's 2013 novel, which is also titled Hibike! Euphonium Kitauji Kōkō Suisōraku-Bu e Yōkoso. The story follows the Kitauji High School Concert Band, which used to always advance to national competitions. Ever since the adviser changed, it has not advanced past the Kansai tournament. However, thanks to the newly appointed adviser's strict instruction, the students are steadily improving. The band members' daily lives are full of ups and downs including fights over solos and the decision to resign extracurricular activities to focus on studies.
Pony Canyon USA streamed the first season on Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan. Pony Canyon USA will alsorelease the anime in North America. The company is also considering releasing the film in North America.
