'Boruto Naruto Manga' update, rumor: 'Boruto: Naruto the Movie 2' canceled to make way for the manga and anime spin-offs?

(Facebook / Naruto)Countdown teaser for the Next Generation of the Naruto series

Many fans got excited when they heard the news that there is going to be a sequel for the Naruto movie spin-off, "Boruto: Naruto the Movie." Unfortunately, it appears like things are about to change as recent speculations suggest that the franchise will focus on the manga and anime medium for the spin-offs this year.
First up, the Uchiha Itachi-focused anime spin-off "Naruto Shippuden: Itachi Shinden," or also known by its English title "Naruto Shippuden: The True Legend of Itachi," is said to begin its run this spring 2016.
Itachi's anime is going to be followed by the spin-off for the next generation of ninjas in "Boruto Naruto Manga" that will start this coming May 9. The new Naruto manga series is going to be published by Viz Media for the English readers, as previously announced by the company.
Meanwhile, in terms of juicy details, many fans might already know by now that the manga version is going to stand as a continuation of the "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" film where the narrative will revolve around the lives of the next-generation ninjas of the Hidden Leaf village — also known by its Japanese name Konohagakure.
However, there are rumors circulating that suggest that the "Boruto Naruto Manga" will finally explain the real story behind the mysterious member in Boruto's team: Mitsuki.
Toward the end part of the film, Mitsuki has finally revealed who his parents are — or in his case, who his parent is. The answer to that is none other than the great Sannin, Orochimaru. The revelation shocked Sarada, which prompted her to ask if Orochimaru is his mother or father.
There is also a speculation that points to the possibility that "Boruto Naruto Manga" will introduce an all-grown up cast, possibly an even older next generation of ninjas than the ones in "Boruto: Naruto the Movie."
Whatever the case is, it would still be best for the fans to just wait for the publication of "Boruto Naruto Manga" to officially announce details and take all speculations and rumors with a pinch of salt
