Cosplay contest, panels and fun set for this year's ToshoCon Anime Convention

Newport News Public Library System will be hosting its ToshoCon Anime Convention from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 16 at Main Street Library.
The event is free and open to teens ages 12 to 17.  This annual event, now in its third year, draws hundreds of teens to the Library and offers a wide variety of activities, including screenings, crafts, workshops, dance, music, and a photo booth. There will be food and comic related items available for purchase.
In addition to the many activities that will take place at the Convention, there will be a video game competition, a rock-paper-scissors tournament, an Instagram photo contest, and a cosplay contest.
For the cosplay contest, teens are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters and compete for the chance to win prizes. Participants interested in competing in the contest should preregister online at www.nnpls.libguides.com/cosplayregistration. Although the contest is only open to ages 12-17, all ages are welcome to watch the competition which begins at 2 p.m.
