The May issue of Ichijinsha's Comic Zero Sum magazine revealed on Monday that the Saiyuki Reload Blast manga did not appear in the issue. The magazine's editorial staff apologized, noting that Kazuya Minekura, the manga's author, is suffering from poor health, and put the manga on hiatus.
Minekura had previously slowed down her publication of the Saiyuki Reload Blast and Wild Adapter manga in 2013 due to her health.
Saiyuki Reload Blast is the sequel to Minekura's Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload manga series. She launched the series in Comic Zero Sum in 2009. Ichijinsha published the manga's second compiled book volume in 2014. The manga series has also spawned the Saiyuki Gaiden andSaiyuki Ibun manga spinoffs, as well as three television anime series, an anime film, and three OVA series. A stage musical adaptation of the manga ran in Tokyo last September.
