A
live-action film adaptation of the popular classical music-themed romance manga
and anime series “Your Lie in April” will open nationwide on Sept. 10.
The
free-spirited junior high school violinist, Kaori Miyazono, will be played by
Suzu Hirose. Hirose grabbed the spotlight after playing a part in Hirokazu
Koreeda’s critically acclaimed film “Our Little Sister.” Hirose also has a
starring role in “Chihayafuru,” a two-part live-action film adaptation of a
manga of the same name.
Kousei
Arima, an ex-child piano prodigy who is attracted to Kaori, will be portrayed
by Kento Yamazaki. The actor has been cast in many popular films, including
manga-based “Heroine Shikkaku” (No longer heroine) and “Orange.”
Both Hirose
and Yamazaki received the new face award at the 39th Japan Academy Prize.
Meanwhile,
the character of Tsubaki Sawabe, who develops a romantic interest in her
childhood friend Kousei, will be played by pop group E-girls member Anna Ishii,
who plays the lead role in the recently released film titled “Girls Step.”
Actor Taishi Nakagawa has been cast as Ryota Watari, whom Kaori has a crush on.
Nakagawa recently starred in a TV drama series based on the manga “My Little
Lover.”
Written and
illustrated by Naoshi Arakawa, the original “Your Lie in April” manga series
ran in Kodansha Ltd.’s Monthly Shonen Magazine. The title was also adapted into
an animated TV series that aired on Fuji Television Network Inc.'s
"noitaminA" midnight animation slot from 2014 to 2015.
